I managed to get a job with Nic Knowland as his assistant and he was in a small company called Tattooist International. Nic had spent some time working for John and Yoko filming various projects including the video for Imagine. During that period there were several projects with Apple the Beatles company and an arrangement was made that Tattooist would look after their Eclair NPR camera. While assisting Nic we filmed George Harrison at his home for a documentary then on another occasion went to Monte Carlo to make a music video for Ringo. My hero at the time was John but by then he was living in New York, I never got to meet him but later I got to be a cameraman for Paul McCartney
I went with Nic to Monte Carlo where Ringo was residing as a tax exile in 78 - the director was Franc Citanavich who spent his whole time focusing on women's feet for the video - I'm not sure if it ever saw the light of day, but it was a very enjoyable experience to be in Monte Carlo and Ringo treated us to a fantastic Cabaret show
For a few weeks I recorded the progress of the filming of Give My Regards To Broad Street - a vanity project for Paul where he wrote the script and produced the film
This is me at the premier of Give My Regards To Broad Street at the Liverpool opening. They waited for the crowd to get large and excited before the McCartney's made an appearance and there was quite a frenzy - The nearest I ever got to Beatle mania
For my sins I photographed some of the video for Paul's Christmas single "Simply Having a Wonderful Christmas Time" - i remember doing a sequence around the pub in Sussex and the band managed to ring up a bar bill for over #700 in a two day period which was pretty impressive for that time.
